Well, business is still booming and the orders just keep rolling in! I seem to average 2-3 orders per week now, which is nice and manageable. I now have two weddings booked so far this summer, and more potential graduation parties and wedding showers. It is crazy how I'm starting to book events well in advance, which means I need to start planning my own events and personal time in advance! Anniversary trip? Yikes I better get on it before I have a cupcake order! I just cannot believe how well I'm doing after just a little over two months. I would have never guessed I'd be doing anything like this ever in my lifetime, but I'm totally loving it!
I now have over 20 flavors- check them out on the updated website! Thanks to vendor events, I get to try new flavors and sell them there. The last show, which benefited the Ronald McDonald House, I completely sold out of cupcakes! It was an awesome feeling and I got many compliments on them. I decided to try a new recipe for that show, Banana Split. It looked great in the picture, but I knew there were a lot of parts to it- make the cupcake, take out the center, make the filling, make the icing, make the chocolate ganache, freeze them, dip them, freeze them, pipe them.... and then a cherry to top them off! And let me say, these were THE MOST FRUSTRATING CUPCAKES EVER to make! It took me over two hours to complete them, and I hated the recipe it gave for the frosting. It was so runny and I had to keep adding confectioner's sugar, which it never called for in the first place. Finally, after SO much mixing, the frosting came out tasting pretty good and I was able to pipe it on the cupcakes. Everyone loved them and they looked AWESOME, and they were one of the first to sell out, but I'm pretty sure I need to charge double for them because it takes so long ;) In fact, I haven't even added them to my flavors list because I'm not sure if I really want to have to make them again. haha maybe some day....
